Rainy Day

At last the rain has come. It is just a light shower now and then but it is rain. The forecast is calling for showers for the next four days, but who knows what we'll really get. Of course, the perfect thing to do on a rainy day is to retreat to the studio and finish more projects. Here is today's finished work: "Spittal of Glenshee" sewn onto a piece of black fabric and stapled to the back of a canvas stretcher frame. The photo shows it hanging in our hallway (hence the less than perfect light), the only spot left for it at the moment. This lack of wall space is the artist's perennial problem. But do we stop working when the walls get filled up? Of course we don't!

Don and Gordon went out this morning for their second standing golf date of each week. (They gave up Sunday mornings for two weekday mornings. Not a bad deal, eh?) Fortunately, it didn't begin to shower until they were almost finished.

Yesterday afternoon Don picked up our pathway lights. This morning he contacted Gordon, our electrician, who will be out sometime next week to install them.

We've had our lunch. Don just put some chicken pieces to marinate in a yummy ginger, garlic, cilantro, and lime concoction and has just sat down to watch the British Open on the telly. I'm going back into the studio to see what else I can get finished today. I am sure I could have accomplished so much more in life if I could have spent it all in retirement!
