No Photos for a While

The software that came with our Canon digital camera for some reason thinks all of our archived photos are in nonexistent files. Furthermore, it won't let me create new folders to download new photos. I am sure I can download them elsewhere but I'm going to have to think about this first. Meanwhile, what a sinking feeling it is to know all our precious photos are locked up!

Yesterday's Fancy Dress Bicycle parade was enjoyable but not as well attended as it has been in the past. We did get some photos but they're still in the camera. It rained a bit more in the afternoon yesterday and then again during the night or early morning hours--or both (we slept through it). Today, however, has been really lovely again--bright, sunny, warm but with a light cool breeze and only the occasional brief and very light passing shower.

Our friends Val and Bill Campbell came from Arbroath for the day. We all had time for a quick tour of the house and a cup of coffee before Don and Bill left to play 9 holes at St Fillans. Val and I walked a couple of blocks to the Comrie Fortnight Car Boot Sale (flea market). On the way we stopped by Daisy and George's magnificent garden (actually, it's George's handiwork). Daisy, who has been in my Keep Fit classes, was in the garden and invited us to come in walk around. The profusion of flowers, the variety and colours, the healthiness of the specimens, and the neatness of the whole place is simply amazing. This is the garden I passed by last Saturday to take a photo of the fragrant and abundant Sweetpeas.

At the car boot sale, we each picked up a few little items, including a lovely peach-coloured vase for our sitting room which Val bought for me. It's a perfect match with our decor. Again, there were folks to stop and have a blether with. We got back to the house with a bit of time to take the Sunday paper out to the patio and enjoy a cooling fruit juice drink before the "boys" came back from golf.

Don, Bill, and Val sat outside with drinks and nibbles while I put our meal together. After we had eaten, we went to another Comrie Fortnight event: The Open Day Lawn Party at the House of Ross. There was ice cream, strawberries and cream, and tea and biscuits on sale. The miniature railroad was running with 5 or 6 engines with a few cars each to take children (of all ages and sizes!) through the woods. The Comrie Pipes and Drums played a few times throughout the afternoon but the main attraction was the City of Dundee Brass Band which played on the lawn under the big spreading trees. There was a huge rented blow-up slide for the children and demonstrations of wool carding, spinning, and weaving for the adults. We enjoyed sitting on my grandmother's old quilt and listening to the brass band and then strolling on the grounds, meeting Comrie friends, watching the children climb to the top and slide down the 40-foot inflated slide, and listening to the pipe band for a while. On the way home, we called in at Dalchonzie Strawberry Farm Shop for various items. Val and Bill picked up 4 fresh strawberry and custard mini-tarts for us to have with tea when we got home. After a brief visit, they took off for the trip back to Arbroath.

We think we got some good photos this afternoon and we hope you will get to see them soon.
