Raise High the Roofbeams, Carpenters

How nice it was to see sunshine when we got up this morning. No rain is forecast for the next 5 days. Although we had to deal once more with leaks from the kitchen ceiling (and down one wall!) before Chef Don could make our stir-fry last night, that seems to have been the last of the leaks (from that source, at least). The joiners have removed the tarp, put plywood over the kitchen ceiling, and they are now erecting the kitchen roof trusses. They expect to finish that jo today and promised they'd replace the tarp before they leave.

Our contractor says the roofer is on stand-by to do the roofing once the studio, kitchen, and utility room are prepared for his work. We expect to see the brickies back any day now as they must build the chimney before the joiners can erect the roof trusses over the sitting room extension. We are hoping the weather continues good and our various crews can keep at it as we feel on the verge of seeing the project move toward completion.

Don is away playing golf for the first time since Tuesday morning. He was beginning to get quite antsy so it's nice that he has a bonny day for it today. Meanwhile, I've spent my morning cleaning the kitchen floor and doing a couple of loads of wash rather than working on the new quilt. Now I've run out of time, but there's always tomorrow.

This afternoon we are driving to Stirling for lunch and then to Glasgow to see an art show on art textiles at the Collins Gallery of Strathclyde University. I'll be able to tell you more about that tomorrow.
