Today we journeyed to Perth to arrange for matching carpet for the sitting room extension and to look at vinyl flooring for the kitchen/utility room, the shower room, the wee entryway, and the studio floor. Actually, we hadn't initially thought we'd get vinyl for the studio but we decided to look anyway. Fortunately, they still make the carpet we bought two years ago for our sitting room and the new piece should match fairly well because it's a light tweedy pattern.
We were able to walk 2 doors down from the carpet/flooring place to where we bought the new cupboards for the utility room and worktops for the kitchen/utility room (same throughout) and pick up samples of the worktop and the cupboards. We found some very good flooring possibilities for all but the studio. Actually, some of what we saw for the studio we liked, but I have to get used to the idea of putting vinyl down in my studio, albeit wood-grain looking vinyl. I was thinking more of a hard surface wood-like material, like the Pergo we put down in my studio in Bethesda. But it's good to consider all options. We'll keep looking on this one.
Next we drove to Sideys, a Perth company that makes PVC-clad doors and windows. There we picked out a blue door with interesting glass in the top half for our new front door.
The most amazing part of this whole process is that we agreed, almost at once, on everything. It is so comforting to know that our taste is that similar but also that our vision for what will be is virtually identical.
