We were quite disappointed that the builders didn't arrive today, even though it was a dry day--and especially as it's supposed to rain tomorrow. But about mid-day, there was a knock on the back door and there stood Barclay, the builder boss. We stood there grinning at him as though he'd come to give us our lottery check. Don asked him how it felt to be the fellow people were always glad to see at their door.
At any rate, he says they will be here on Wednesday, weather permitting. It just so happens that the snow showers predicted for Wednesday have, this afternoon, been replaced by full sun. Full sun is also predicted for Thursday and Friday, so things look promising.
I've been looking for the perfect background for the wee quilt I made on Saturday and worked on some more yesterday. I've auditioned a few fabrics and taken several photos but I'm still not sure.
Tonight is my chorus rehearsal. As far as our rehearsal schedule for Haydn's oratorio The Seasons is concerned, last week we finished summer and tonight we begin autumn. I've been practicing my part with a special practice tape whereon an organ plays the full vocal score and emphasizes my part with the oboe sound. It works pretty well. These rental tapes are a boon for those of us who don't own pianos.
Don and Peter thoroughly enjoyed their Superbowl party last night. Don didn't get home until 3-something so he "had a lie-in" this morning. My guess is he'll have an early night tonight. Right now he's at John's house, where John, an audiophonic whiz, is giving him assistance with a music program he'll be presenting for the St Fillans Music Circle next month (more about that later). On his way home, he'll pick up trout fillets at the Drummond Trout Farm on the outskirts of the village. Yum!
