We have come through the "bleak mid-winter" and are now on our way to spring. That's the theory anyway. Yesterday was the shortest day of the year and, coincidentally, the last day of Channukah. What a perfect combination: on the shortest day of the year, we light the most candles.
Speaking of the candles, we were running low on our old supply and so just before Channukah Don ordered more for us from a London company called Buy Jewish Stuff. In just 2 days we had 2 boxes of beautiful dripless, hand-dipped candles.

It seemed appropriate to put up our Christmas tree on the day of the Winter Solstice which would only add more lights to our atmosphere. We brought our wee living tree inside and put it, for the first time, on one of the new window boxes, which places it at exactly the right height to be seen through one of the front windows. As you can see, Kip is wearing his Santa hat and beard. Christmas Cat and Snoopy are appropriately attired. Don said Kip appears to be very proud of his little family. Well who can blame him?
