Yes, today is Iris Nicole Daniels' 4th birthday. The party will be held on Sunday, just a small gathering of family and friends. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, IRIS!
Yesterday in Albany there was a dusting of snow which, Molly wrote in an e-mail, excited Iris greatly. I know just how she feels for I always find snow exciting. I guess that comes, in my case, from growing up in Florida.
Don was to have been out playing golf with Gordon today, but Gordon was stuck at home waiting for a delivery, so Don went out on his own. It's drizzling with rain this morning. According to the weather report on the telly last night, it's to be on and off rainy today. Well, what's new?
We're off this afternoon for Perth. We'll have lunch in a new restaurant we've heard of owned by the same folks who own our favorite French bistro, Cafe Tabou. We have heard good things about the new place and so will give it a try. After lunch we'll do some holiday shopping until this afternoon's main event at City Hall.
Apparently, the mayor of Cognac is in town and so the Friends of Cognac will be on hand for a reception. Other than that, I can tell you nothing except that we are expecting more long speeches that then must be translated. I'll fill you in on the details tomorrow.
The mayor is a tall handsome fellow who reminds me of Jim Anderson, the father on the early 1950s sit-com "Father Knows Best," played by Robert Young. I can see him now in his smart suit and hat, walking up the front steps, opening the front door, striding into the house, briefcase in hand, and calling out "Bon jour!"
