We had another frosty morning. In fact, there was ice in the birdbath. Amazingly, though, the autumn-blooming clematis, one of the four we planted to ramble on the garden arch, has burst into bloom. It is a mauve-lavender and seems to be quite healthy.
After a bowl of hearty porridge, Don went off to play 9 holes with John Southorn. I went to the studio to finish up the floral quilt I started at the workshop I taught a week ago Wednesday. I am quite pleased with the way it turned out. There was quite a bit of hand-sewing involved in the finishing as I decided to embellish the piece with some beads. Now I just need to sew the hanging sleeve onto the back.
At a little after noon, Don and John came in so John could get a tour of our renovated spaces. Then we all went to the White Church for the Thursday Club lunch. Dr. Iain "Pinky" Pinkerton sat with us and we talked about music, among other topics. You never know who you're going to see or sit with at these lunches but it's always a treat to go to them.
It's a very bright day today, clear as a bell and cool although not terribly cold. Don has the electric trimmers out in the side garden and is finishing up the pruning job I began last Saturday. It's time for me to go sew that hanging sleeve on the new quilt so I can hang it in the dining area.
