Even with the weather as wretched as it is, we both went out this morning. Don went out to play in a tournament at St. Fillans to be followed by prize-giving and lunch. As it was, they could only play 9 holes. They were all soaked through by that time. The wind was so bad that Don said his hat kept flying off his head, he could hardly stand straight enough or still enough to putt, and at one point the wind blew his golf cart over. Still and all, he said played pretty well, although he didn't win a prize.
I went on a Stagecoach this morning. That's the name of the bus company that covers this part of Scotland. Now that I have my free bus pass, I thought I ought to try it out. I needed some things that I couldn't get in Comrie and so left the house at 11:10 to walk around the corner and catch the bus to Crieff. The bus came at about 11:15 so I didn't get too wet waiting for it. I took my book along so I could read on the way to and from Crieff. We arrived at the Crieff High Street at about 11:30. By 12 I had gone for my messages (done my errands): a battery for the front doorbell push, some knitting needles and some yarn. I walked to where a bus was waiting by a bustop, got on, and was back in Comrie at my stop by 12:15. Not bad! The bottoms of my jeans are still wet but otherwise, I'm none the worse for wear-- and I made significant progress in my book!
Today's photo is of a wee pin I made for granddaughter Iris's 4th birthday. Yesterday afternoon I made good progress on the baby quilt. I hope to have it finished by next week.In the evenings, while we watch the telly, I have been knitting up a storm, making gift items. (That's why I needed to replenish my supplies today.)
Last evening, however, we didn't watch telly but instead went to Crieff for the second Strathearn Music Society concert of this season. The Audley Horn Trio played three selections, the last of which was the Trio in E-flat for Violin, Horn and Piano by Brahms. It was so beautiful that we have had Brahms in our heads ever since. To continue the theme, we pulled out two of our Brahms instrumental CDs and played them last night after we got home. The young people who played for us last night were accomplished musicians who also gave us insight into each piece before they played them. That always adds so much to the audience's appreciation of a performance and creates a nice rapport between artists and audience as well.
