We've given ourselves an early Channukah, Christmas, Anniversary present: we've bought a Panasonic digital video camera which also takes stills. Back in 1993 we bought a high-8 video camera and really loved being able to watch our Scotland holidays and to share them with others. We handed that camera over to Wendy last spring so she could see the many hours of footage we had of Jami when she was a baby. Don has been thinking, however, that our wee digital camera photos just don't capture a place the way a video camera can, and so here we are.
Don took the camera up to the golf course this afternoon as it was such a beautiful sunny day. Unfortunately, the sun was almost gone by the time we had run our errands and he got up there, but you can still see how pretty the first fairway is and you can see what a charming clubhouse the Comrie course has.
He played golf with Gordon at St. Fillans this morning. When he got home we went to the White Church for the community lunch. Afterward, we went into Crieff to buy some gift items for the children and their children. Now we're in the process of packing.
I've add one more photo from the new camera. It can zoom in on shots whereas the wee digital we've been using is pretty limited when it comes to the zoom. This is one of my favorite views. On Saturday afternoon when I walked back to the house after getting my flu jab at the medical centre, when I saw this view from about a block away from our house, I thought "This is the photo I want to take with the new camera." It shows part of the Comrie Golf Course off in the distance, a bright green spot in the hills, but it also shows the houses that are directly across the street from our house. I wanted you to know that we can see the golf course from home. It isn't easy from inside the house, but it is possible. I couldn't get the photo to load through Blogger so I've added it with Hello. It is the image you first see above.
We take off at about 8 tomorrow morning. At least we won't be getting up at the crack of dawn as we did on the last two trips (or as I did this morning because of a cat fight in the back garden which sounded like it was under our bedroom window). Look for the next blog in 12 days or so. (Notice the naive way I assume you all can't wait to get up each morning, turn on the computer, and see what we're up to?)
