You may recall that we had a bumper crop of plums last year from our wee plum tree. We thought it was an extraordinary year. However, we only got about 4 dozen plums last year and it looks as though there are hundreds on plums on there this year. Everything everywhere appears to be lusher and thicker than previous years. Everyone is remarking about it.
Don is away to Crieff to take 3 huge piles of debris to the skip. One of those piles is from the plum tree which he pruned earlier in the week. As if in anticipation of an empty car returning from the skip, I have now created another huge pile of cippings after pruning three of the shrubs that border our patio. (It would have been four but one is still flowering and the bees are swarming all over it.) Plants I set out into this area earlier in the spring have stopped blooming because the sun no longer reaches them for when the shrubs leafed out, they created almost total shade down below. I have now restored their source of light and hope they will thank me for it by blooming again.
We're having a glorious day. It's 70 or so degrees and sunny. In fact, we had our lunch out on the terrace for the first time in many, many weeks. I've left the oilcloth on the table in hopes that we can have nibbles and a glass of wine out there later.
