Highland Line Number 43

Here is the view we had during our So and Sews' meeting on Monday. We met at Jane's house up at Ardioneg, high on the south side of Loch Tay. Jane and her husband, Paul, work for an organization called The Abernethy Trust which is sort of a Christian version of Outward Bound. They do lots of work with school children and also with troubled youth from all over. In addition, Paul trains Border Collies to be mountain rescue dogs. There were two collies on hand for lots of petting while we were there. Jane apologized for them but I told her I was very happy to be able to get my "Collie fix."

I finished putting the binding on the second log cabin quilt and today I got my two applications in the mail for the Loch Lomond Quilt Show. By the time I get back from our trip to the States, I should know whether or not my two quilts have been accepted. Meanwhile, I've sort of finished my self-portrait. I'll give you a photo of the beginning work but not of the finished piece because once I'd finished all the quilting, the face puckered up. Makes me look like an apple doll, you know, the kind you see in Cracker Barrell and other "country" gift shops. So many wrinkles! I am pleased to say I don't really have that many wrinkles--yet! I will get the expert opinion of my Bethesda quilter friends on how to solve that problem.

This is not going to be much of a Highland Line because I still need to put things into my suitcase and here it is after 10 pm! Don has gotten his bags all packed and is ready for bed. My things have been all laid out so it won't take long to fill the suitcase but we both need to get to bed at a reasonable hour so we can get up, eat, dress, and be ready to leave the house at a little after 7 in the morning. Tomorrow will be a long day, especially with the 4-hour wait in Rekjavik for our flight from Iceland to BWI. I'm putting a couple of decks of cards in my carryon bag so Don and I can play Canasta while we wait. (Look out, Butlers!)

There weren't so many blog entries during the month of March because I spent so much time getting my two quilts finished, but if you page back through the March blogs, you will get the essence of the month.

We're very much looking forward to seeing children, grandchildren, and lots of friends over the next 10 days. Spring is springing all over the place around here. I expect when we get back, there will be much to do in the garden and lots to tell you about.

We hope you are all well and that spring is or soon will be where you are.

Love,

Lynn and Don
