The Gown

Here are the photos of the full gown and a detail shot of the Glasgow roses on the skirt. All the exposed log cabin blocks have been quilted and I have begun quilting the borders. My aim is to finish the quilting tomorrow and get the binding affixed by Monday morning so that I can do the hand-sewing on it during Monday afternoon's So and Sews meeting. I am really pleased by how well this piece is turning out.

Last night's Friends of Cognac wine-tasting event was lots of fun, from the coach ride there to the coach ride home. There were 9 different wines with nibbles to go with (French bread, 3 different cheeses, 2 pates, and green and red seedless grapes). I was more careful about what I ate than what I drank, still I checked my weight this morning and am maintaining my weight loss. (Whew!) Mostly, we enjoyed being with members of the group.

The French contingent who are coming for their exchange visit next month will be a small one--only 14 people will be able to make the trip. The logistics will be easier with the smaller number but the festive occasions, especially the ceilidh evening, will not be quite the same with such a small number. Still, we will see to it that those who do make the journey have a grand time. Right now, though, it is looking as though we won't be having a guest stay with us. We must admit to being just a wee bit disappointed.
