Monday Update

This has been a busy day and there are still things to be done, so this will be just a quick update on the renovations. First, the predicted sleet didn't come, but is still predicted for tomorrow and Wednesday. We'll see.

The roofer showed up at 8:15 this morning and said just as he was about to quit for the day (at 4:30) that he will begin tiling tomorrow. We were gone all morning but when we got home at about 1:30, the brickies also were here. They just left and made great progress today. The fireplace wraps are off and from our sliding front doors, we can see the fireplace opening where our new gas fire will go. (I tried to take a photo but it's too late in the day and the sun is behind the house, so the photo was too dark to show up well or even to manipulate.) The chimney is now up to the roofline which means the joiners can come back and erect the roof trusses for the sitting room extension. So you see how much can change in just one full day of work. We are most gratified and thankful the weather was sunny and dry today.

Now I must go practice my autumn choruses from "The Seasons" prior to tonight's chorus rehearsal. We'll have an encore presentation for dinner: more of that gorgeous stiffado.
