More Flowers

The other day, Helen sent Gordon over with a big blue pot of pinks which she had planted but was nurturing along until there were many sweet-smelling blossoms. Aren't they lovely?

Each day is a bit better than the previous day. Yesterday afternoon Don and I went to Jean and David Andersons' so Don could give Jean another coaching lesson on using the Internet to order books and DVDs.

They just finished a big renovation project to add a side extension to their house. This gives them a large dining room with lots of windows. Sitting at the back end of the room, one looks through glass doors at their garden, which is truly beautiful. We began there with a chat over cups of tea and biscuits.

In the foreground, a local stone expert, Struan Donaldson, has built a drystane wall (these are the ancient types of walls built by layering flat stones but using no mortar). They also are constructing a water feature and so the view from this vantage point is going to be splendid.

When we got home, David came with us to show Don how to apply a once-a-year weed-killer. Later, I went out onto the patio and did some watering. This afternoon I'll move to another location. We still haven't had rain and the plants (especially the new ones) are suffering.

Don's on the golf course with Alex and Craig and so I'm off to the studio to finish clearing up and to see what projects I can accomplish--or at least start.
