The Lonely Apple

This morning as I was walking through the utility room, I suddenly spied an apple hanging on a lower bough of the apple tree. I went out and looked up into the tree from many different angles but never saw another apple. That doesn't necessarily mean there aren't any others up there, but given what the poor dear tree has been through since last November, that would hardly be surprising. For now, though, I'll just call this "the first apple."

We have had our breakfast and now Don has gone to Somerfields in Crieff to get some last-minute grocery items and the newspapers. i've put a date-nut loaf on to bake and I'm about to clean up the kitchen. Then I'll continue with other tidying up while Don finishes writing an article for his professional association publication. He did a lot of tidying in the study yesterday afternoon while I cleaned up in my studio. After Don finishes his article, he'll move the computer to the utility room and we'll work on turning the study into the guest room. Voila!

Jack and Kathy should arrive between 2 and 3 this afternoon. Maybe I'll have time for another cup of coffee, a look through the papers, and a short recorded choral piece.
