With last night's dance, the Comrie Fortnight for 2006 finished. There were numerous events over the two-week period, something for all ages and interests. We managed to get to some most enjoyable ones. The Comrie Pipes and Drums always start off the festivities with a brief concert in Melville Square. This photo shows them at the start of yesterday's float parade.
The event we attended on Saturday afternoon a week ago was the Fancy Dress Bicycle Parade. Here are a couple of photos from that (Superman and Batman as well as Postman Pat). We weren't able to stay for the follow-on event, the Children's Pet Show this year, but it is always a most enjoyable event.
Last Sunday afternoon was the Garden Party at the House of Ross. I will put some of those photos in as well. (I can see that each set of photos I add, go to the top of the page.) One of the photos shows the Dundee Brass Band performing. The other shows the House of Ross, owned by a family who generously open the grounds for this event during each year's Comrie Fortnight.
Then there was the 6-mile ramble to the walled garden on the Aberuchill Estate, sponsored by the Strathearn Ramblers Association. I've tried adding a couple more photos from that event but I can see they will need to be added later using Hello.
Finally, there was the Float Parade. The streets were lined with residents, their guests, and holidaymakers to view this ever-popular event. I will add a few photos from that as well.
Today we are going to try to get some gardening done. Yesterday Don played golf in the morning while I washed clothes and watered plants. The afternoon was almost totally given over to downloading and sorting photos using new methods. So here you have the fruits of our labor.
