Here is my little hidden back garden. Well, it's not really hidden but let's say it's tucked away in the back and it's well protected. You can see the rhododendron has sprung forth. Just in front of the table and chairs there is a miniature red azalea. Next to it is a Lady's Mantle, a plant I love for it holds the morning moisture in its cupped leaves sometimes all day long. In the right foreground is my herb bed. The chives over-wintered quite well and the two sages (regular old and purple sage) did okay. The rosemary survived but isn't very healthy looking, but the thyme is thriving. The parsley has ceased to be. I've also included a close-up of the chives next to the Centurea montana, which has burst forth quite enthusiastically this year. In fact, here is another photo of it in an adjacent bed with some Welsh poppies. At the top of the fence you can see the Jew's mallow which also thrives this time of year, along with the flowering redcurrants.
I've spent the day washing windows inside and out all around the house. There are a few inside that remain to be done. They'll have to wait until tomorrow. The plumber was here almost all day, installing radiators in the utility room and my studio as well as connecting the toilet, washbasin, and heated towel rail/radiator in the shower room. The brickies continued working on the cove (cope?) on top of the chimney and the walkway around to our new front entrance.
Don is away on a Probus Club golf outing to Ashludie near Dundee. They are playing a links course and my guess is he'll come back saying it was cold and windy but wonderful. I must go change clothes then heat up our leftovers because we must eat as soon as he comes in. Tonight we're taking our friends Juliet and David Sutcliffe to the Perth Theatre to see the Reduced Shakespeare Company for David's birthday present.
Flooring and carpeting comes tomorrow.
