The studio is all packed up and ready. From this view, you can see my "dressing room" area. All the doors and drawers have been taped shut (top, sides, and bottom) with wide masking tape. The roll of polythene that was to have been ordered for us never came so the joiners will have to tape polythene over the open shelves where we've put boxes of things we've packed from everywhere before they do the breaking through. The curtains have been taken down and put away and the old roll-up shades are in the skip out front.
The sitting/dining area have been stripped of everything we could carry off to another room. The joiners will have to tape polythene over the bookcase that has all our CDs. After we have our lunch (it's just noon now), we will strip the table, move it over, cover it with a protective cover, and then store our two chairs in our bedroom. We are letting Kip sleep on our bed while we're gone as consolation for having to move from his usual spot in the sitting room.
Don is just now finishing the packing up of the kitchen drawers and countertops. Unfortunately, we've run out of empty boxes. What we have a surfeit of is bubblewrap! We'll finish up the leftovers in sandwiches and pack up any remaining perishables and take them over to Helen and Gordon's when we go to take our laptop over.
Our bags are packed and we are ready to go. All that remains is to eat lunch, do those last-minute removals, turn off the central heating and hot water heater, and take the bags to the car. That's us!
We'll be seeing some of you soon. The rest of you will get a break of 2 weeks and then, it is hoped, you'll be seeing some dramatic new photos of the progress the builders made (along with photos of our adorable grandchildren!).
Oh, and just in case you were wondering, Don has a golf game planned for a week from Tuesday with Pierce Lehmbeck and Louis Reed down in Columbus, NC.
Happy Springtime!
