Lambs, Labs, and Quilts

Don has been doing well since his first round of chemo. He's been out to play golf on both Thursday and Friday mornings. He said it wasn't great but I think he was happy to be feeling well enough to be out there.

On Tuesday while he was in Ninewells having his treatment, our friends John and Jan Southorn invited me to have lunch with them. Jan fed me all sorts of wonderful vegetables: an Italian vegetable soup with some of her homemade wholegrain bread, a lovely quiche from Comrie's deli, some cooked beets, a sweet pepper and chickpea pate, ham, and a greens and tomato salad.

Jan and John are "dogsitting" for a friend. Their charge, a lovely black lab named Jeeves, is very well-behaved. After lunch, Jan and I took a country walk. There are lambs in the field across from their cottage (see photo above). They are so wee and so innocent. We had a nice long walk, which I enjoyed and I'm sure did me a lot of good. Afterward we sat in their summer house and had tea and biscuits.
This afternoon Trish Hamilton came by with two soups for us, mushroom and chicken. This evening, Norma Nairne phoned to ask if she could drop off some stroganoff for our dinner. She brought stroganoff, rice, and a gorgeous loaf of bread from her favourite bakery in Edinburgh.

Today I finished making the little quilt I began several days ago. The "picture" is a much-manipulated photo transfer (printed onto fabric) of a trashbag in a gutter with some leaves. I was so intrigued with the image that I simply had to photograph it. I have named it the Plastic Bag Amoeba although it looks rather like an amphibion of some sort. Remember you can click on the photos to get a larger view.
