Today is a soup day. It's an overcast, grey, clammy day. Every once in a while there is a little smurr--just a mist, more like a low, moisture-laden cloud passing over. Don is on the golf course playing his usual Saturday morning game with Craig Lamond. I am tidying up in anticipation of our guests' arrival tomorrow at midday. In another half hour I'll go into the kitchen and make us some mushroom soup for lunch. Then later today I'll make a nice, hearty Italian soup for us all to have for lunch tomorrow after we pick the cousins up at the Dunblane train station.
The temperature really isn't all that cold today but without the sun--and with 95% humidity, it certainly feels chilly. In fact, I turned on the central heating about half an hour ago and let it run for about 15 minutes, just long enough to take the chill off the house. I've dressed warmly and will keep moving around so that will help.
My blog updates may slow to a trickle for the next few days. I know I won't get one done on Monday as it's a jam-packed day. We start off with another routine follow-up appointment at Ninewell's Hospital in Dundee with the plastic surgeon. That appointment is at 9:15 but we'll have to leave the house early enough to drive the 40 or so miles in rush-hour traffic. (Monday isn't Labor Day over here!) We're bringing Ruthellen and Russell with us because after my brief appointment, we'll be taking them across the Tay Bridge from Dundee to the Wee Kingdom of Fife. We'll show them St Andrews and probably have lunch there. Then we'll follow the North Sea coast down to the East Neuk (nook) of Fife where charming fishing villages cluster around harbors on the Firth of Forth. Most likely we'll make a long day of it and stop in Anstruther for one of that town's famous fish suppers before driving home. Want to come along?
