The Last Word About Those Plums

This morning I plucked the last of the plums off the little tree. The total yield was 85! I just looked up a recipe to make a plum Victoria sponge (a sort of cake/pudding that isn't like an American sponge cake at all). This will be Russell's birthday surprise for tomorrow night when he and Ruthellen return from their Northern Highland adventure. Ruthellen phoned last night to say that they were having brilliant weather and had enjoyed a day of unbelievably dramatic vistas as they rounded the top and began coming down the western (Atlantic Ocean) side. We hope their good weather holds, especially as much of the gorgeous scenery they have ahead of them will not be nearly so dramatic if they get mist and rain.
