An Outing on an Autumn Day

Yester-day 20-some members of the Friends of Cognac took a 6-mile walk from Killie-crankie to Pitlochry alongside first the River Tummel and then Loch Faskally. The weather was cool and quite overcast but not breezy. It was at least bright enough that I was able to get some wonderful photographs along the way. The first is from near the start of the walk and the last is of Pitlochry as seen from the dam.

Actually, I was lucky that it was no cloudier than it was as about half a mile into the trek one of the lens fell out of my specs. Fortunately, I felt it go and stopped myself from stepping on the lens where it fell at my feet. I had my fanny-pack purse with me which always has my sunglasses in it and so with them on, I was able to see well enough to take photos. The autumn foliage was beautiful and because there was no breeze, the water was like glass which meant the reflections were awesome. Don't forget that you can click on the photos to get a larger view.

Once we reached Pitlochry we ate lunch at The Old Armory Restaurant which we have had highly recommended to us by several people over the years. We were pleased that the person making arrangements for the walk had booked us into The Old Armory so we could experience it. We had all ordered ahead of time and so once we were seated, we didn't have to wait long for our food--a good thing as we had all worked up quite an appetite. The food was super and the service couldn't have been better. We will most assuredly be going back there for a meal either prior to or following a performance at Pitlochry Festival Theatre next season, if not sooner.

Following lunch, drivers of the three cars which had been parked near the dam ferried drivers of cars left back at Killiecrankie back to that carpark. Jean and David Anderson had come with us so Jean and I sat and waited while Don and David were driven back to our car. During the trip back to Comrie, it grew cloudier and darker as we approached Crieff so we were doubly glad we had enjoyed such good weather for the walk.

This morning Don played golf with Gordon and Gordon's friend Robin. It is another beautiful autumn day although crisply cool.
