The Day the Scaffolding Was Delivered

Today's post is in blue because it is a very cold day but it was also a very bright and sunny day. Workmen arrived at about 9:30 this morning to deliver and erect the scaffolding for our renovations. It took the scaffolders (is that a word?) almost all day to erect the network of bars and planks and supports that now cocoons our house almost completely. There is a narrow alley we can walk through from the back of our house to the kitchen and an even narrower one from the existing front door. The thing is, once you get out through this exit, you've nowhere to go. The only way you can go is around the back of the house toward the garage. We don't know how our Postie will ever be able to deliver our mail! Unless you take the driveway all the way around from the back of the house, there is no way to access the front of our property, because no matter which way you try to do it, either scaffolding or building materials or mounds of dirt block your path.

It looks and feels as though we're living underneath a giant erector set (only there are no windmills!). And it has gotten darker inside the house. We have a feeling that when the builders come back (tomorrow? please?), it will also get quite a bit noisier inside the house. At least we have had some action today, after waiting over a week for the scaffolding. Fortunately, the weather report is calling for bright, dry days all week.
